COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball graduate Kylie Deberg and incoming Tiger Brynn Carlson were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans on Monday (July 12).
Carlson, who completed a master’s degree at Kansas State this past year before transferring to Mizzou, was named a First Team Academic All-American. The outside hitter posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in her graduate program while racking up 153 kills in the abbreviated 2020 season. The Academic All-America selection is Carlson’s second after earning third team honors in 2019.
Deberg earned her first Academic All-America recognition in her final season as a Tiger. The three-time AVCA All-American added the academic honor after completing her bachelor’s degree with a 3.53 GPA. On the court, Deberg led Mizzou with 433 kills and a 4.76 kills per set average.
Deberg is the first Tiger to earn Academic All-America honors since Jessica Vander Kooi in 2006. She is the fourth Mizzou player in program history to earn the country’s top academic honor, joining Vander Kooi, Kathy Oriel (1986) and Dianna Berg (1985).
