Kylie Deberg Named Finalist for 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball senior Kylie Deberg has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

“Kylie has been a joy to coach since she stepped foot on campus,” said Mizzou head coach Joshua Taylor. “She works hard on the court, in the classroom and the community. She is very deserving of this recognition.”

Deberg has anchored Mizzou’s attack for the past three seasons. The outside hitter is a two-time All-American, earning honorable mention in 2018 and second-team honors in 2019. Deberg leads the SEC in total kills, kills per set, total points and points per set this season. Over her three-year career as a Tiger, she has amassed over 1,300 kills to rank among the top 10 in program history. She also ranks third in Mizzou history with 148 aces in her career.

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 candidates announced earlier in the season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately, and fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through April 14. Fan votes will then be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award recipient will be announced during the 2020-21 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship in April.
