COLUMBIA, Mo. - No. 18/20 Mizzou Softball dropped a low-scoring pitcher’s duel against No. 24/25 Auburn by a score of 3-0 in the final game of the series.

Jordan Weber held the visiting Tigers’ bats in check for the majority of the game. Auburn would break through and score three in the top of the sixth however thanks to many well placed hits.

Auburn opened the inning with a bloop single that landed just inside fair territory. Weber then hit the following batter to put two aboard with no one out. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners over, a fielder’s choice back at Weber allowed Mizzou to get the lead runner out. With two out and runners on second and third, Auburn knocked a 3-2 pitch back up the middle to score two runs. Emma Nichols then entered the game and a rolling single towards second base allowed another run to score from second, putting the score at 3-0.

TURNING POINT

Mizzou would get runners on base throughout the game, and had multiple opportunities to score, but the home Tigers were unable to come up with a clutch hit to bring the runners home.

In the bottom of the final frame, Casidy Chaumont drove a one out double to the base of the center field wall. However, the tough Auburn pitching squandered the comeback opportunity with a strikeout and a groundout to close the game.
