Mountain View-Birch Tree Liberty has introduced next year’s High School Head Girls Basketball coach, Mrs. Desi Smith!
Coach Smith graduated from Purdy High School in 2016. While in high school, Coach Smith was able to help lead her team to multiple district championship games and win multiple conference championships. She received multiple tournament MVPs, All-District, and All-Conference honors. In her senior season, she achieved over 1000 points scored in her career, was named to the KURM Radio Dream Team, and received conference player of the year.
Coach Smith then went on to play at Evangel University for Coach Leon and Dawn Neal. She used the 2016-2017 year as a redshirt freshman to develop her skills as a guard in college. Coach Smith then finished her college career playing under head coach and former WNBA player Megan Leuzinger and assistant Allen Wilson. While at Evangel, she helped her team qualify for the national tournament during the 2019-2020 season and averaged 13min/per game during the 2020-2021 year as a senior.
Coach Smith has spent the last two years coaching the Liberty Middle School Girls basketball team and assisting with the high school. Welcome and congratulations, Coach Smith!
