Liberty Eagles faced the Thayer Bobcats on Saturday September 14th, 2024
The Eagles win the coin toss as the Bobcats will kick off.
1st Quarter: Ball caught at the 23 yard line with some nice special team coverage. Bobcats pick up a few tackles. Eagles take in on offense and Bushong takes it down picking up (possibly) a first down and more. They will now go 2nd & long. As Gavin Reese goes in and They fumble it. Ball gets down a few more yards and are able to take it back as Eagles force the ball out of bounds. They get the ball back within reach of Bobcat territory. And touchdown Liberty by Jaren Rutledge ! Good two point conversion. Liberty takes an 8-0 lead.
2nd Quarter: Eagles get a Fumble and will go 1st & 10. Touchdown Liberty near the 9-yard line and will now take a 16-0 lead with a good two point conversion. Bobcats do & throw and catch, while there is no yardage picked up; they are in a better offensive position by this point. Brayden Prince, #36 of Thayer takes it in for a run bringing it to 16-8 with a good two point conversion. Coming back in after the break, Eagles’ Chris Sharr almost gets his hands on it. A pass-interfernce call is made & ball is returned, looking to be on The Bobcats. Jaren Rutledge makes a 35 yard touchdown pass. Eagles go up 24-8 with a good two point conversion. After the kickoff, Liberty makes an on-side kick and falls on it. Jaren Rutledge makes yet another touchdown bringing the score 30-8. They try a two pointer but it’s stalled underneath. Thayer keeps the ball for the remainder of the half. They pick up a false start penalty with about 1:23 to go. Also gets a block in the back after going down on Dawson Harris. An incomplete pass by Tucker Wade #27 for the Bobcats. The ball goes loose! Liberty gets it! But the reciever steps off-side for the Eagles after the try to get the last shot of the Quarter.
At the Half: Eagles: 30/Bobcats:8
3rd Quarter: Ball is spotted at the 39 yard line of the Eagles. They end up fumbling the football and The Eagles Dawson Harris slips and a few Liberty players fall on him. Bobcats get the ball and goes right down the middle and Eagles almost come within reach. They pick up a personal foul inside the 25 yard line. Liberty will play a 1st and goal. And Jaren Rutledge scores a 5th running touchdown bringing the score to 36-8. Parker Tune makes a run and picks up a new set of downs. Thayer ends up getting in a run bringing the score to 36-16. Rutledge adds some more downs as they get rge ball within reach of the Thayer 33 yard line. 2nd at 10 for the Eagles…. And Touchdown by Chris Sharr bringing the 42-16. Coming back in Sharr makes another long charge. False start penalty is called on the Bobcats. Ball is set within the Eagles 30 and is picked off again by Sharr. There are a few rounds of gained yardage. Quarter ends with a Score of 42-16, Eagles still with the lead
4th Quarter: Ball gets into Bobacat territory as Rutledge trades a few passes with Parker Tune. Kyle Roberts gets another pick as The Bobcats take their third turnover of the game. About midway through, Bobcats take the ball back but still fall to quite a bit of good defensive pressure by Chris Sharr and Jaren Rutledge. Eagles hold out and win 42-16.
