University of Missouri men’s basketball welcomed Jevon Porter back home to Columbia, signing the wing to join the Tigers program for the 2025-26 season.
A native of CoMo who attended Father Tolton High School, Porter spent the 2024-25 season at Loyola Marymount. One of the top versatile players in the transfer portal, the 6-foot-11 forward was one of 11 players nationally last season to total at least 350 points, 200 rebounds, 40 made 3-pointers and 35 blocks last season.
“It’s great to welcome Jevon back to Columbia and join his hometown team,” Gates said. “His family has had a lot of success as Tigers and it’s great that Jevon will be able to continue that tradition at Mizzou. Jevon has the ability to be a mismatch on the perimeter with great size and length. He has also has a scoring mentality and the versatility that he provides will be a key to our team’s success next season.”
Receiving honorable mention to the All-West Coast Conference Team, Porter ranked second on the Lions with 12.5 points per game, while leading the team with 7.2 rebounds and 35 blocks. He also ranked second with 48 triples, second with 25 steals and fourth with 59 assists.
Prior to joining Loyola Marymount, Porter spent two seasons at Pepperdine. With the Waves, he averaged 13.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Overall, Porter has totaled 1,103 points, 568 rebounds, 121 assists, 110 made 3-pointers, 83 blocks and 70 steals during his three-year collegiate career.
Ranked as high as the nation’s No. 82 player in the Class of 2022, Porter played at Father Tolton High School in Columbia, averaging 23.9 points and 13.2 rebounds per game. He is the fifth member of his family to play for the Mizzou men’s and women’s basketball programs, which includes his brother, Michael Porter Jr., who is a member of the Denver Nuggets and won the 2023 NBA Championship.
Porter joins a Mizzou program that has earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament in two of the last three years under the leadership of Gates. During the 2024-25 campaign, the Tigers posted three top-five wins for the first time since 1988-89, finishing sixth in a SEC that earned a record 14 bids to the NCAA Tournament.
