Led by a balanced scoring attack, the Mizzou Men’s Basketball team cruised to a record-tying 72-point win in a 111-39 win over Mississippi Valley State Thursday night. With the win, the Tigers improve to 3-1 on the season and 3-0 in Mizzou Arena. The 72-point victory matches the largest in school history, tying the mark first set in 1976 versus MacMurray (106-34) and accomplished against Chicago State in 1995 (117-45).
MIZZOU LEADERS
Seven Tigers scored in double figures to lead Mizzou to victory. Graduate senior Marques Warrick (Lexington, Ky.) led the team with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Tamar Bates (Kansas City, Kan.) and Caleb Grill (Wichita, Kan.) chipped in 15. Junior Mark Mitchell (Kansas City, Kan.) added 13 points and a team-leading five steals, which is also a career-high. Graduate Jacob Crews (Hilliard, Fla.) finished in double figures for the first time as a Tiger. At the same time, freshmen Annor Boateng (Little Rock, Ark.) and Marcus Allen (Miami, Fla.) also scored in double figures for the first time in their careers, each scoring 10 points.
