#ShowMe Mizzou Game Notes

Series History vs. Kansas State

  • Mizzou leads the all-time series, 169-113-1.
  • The Tigers and Wildcats will meet for the second-straight season, as they squared off last year (April 3, 2019) at Taylor Stadium. Mizzou walked away with a 17-2 victory.
  • Prior to last year’s meeting, Mizzou and Kansas State hadn’t competed against each other in seven years (April 20-22, 2012). It was the last season in the Big 12 Conference for the Tigers and they earned a three-game series sweep at Taylor Stadium.

Series History vs. Utah

  • Mizzou trails in the all-time series, 4-2.
  • This weekend will mark the programs’ first meeting in 19 years (Feb. 18, 2001). The Tigers and Utes met that season in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for an early-season tournament. Utah walked away with a 12-9 triumph.
  • Mizzou’s last win over Utah occurred on March 22, 1985, at the Turquoise Tournament in Albuquerque.

Series History vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

  • Mizzou leads the all-time series, 3-1.
  • The Tigers and Islanders last met three years ago (Feb. 23/25, 2017) in Corpus Christi. Mizzou won a pair of matchups over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at its home ballpark.
  • Two years earlier (Feb. 19/21, 2015), the Tigers once again traveled to Corpus Christi for early-season non-conference matchups. The Islanders won the opener, while Mizzou responded with a victory in game two.

Tigers Earn 2020 Season-Opening Series Win at Jacksonville State

  • Mizzou enjoyed a nice start to its 2020 campaign, taking two-of-three at Jacksonville State (Feb. 14-16). It marked the Tigers’ third season-opening series win under head coach Steve Bieser.
  • It joined Mizzou’s previous season-opening series triumphs over Eastern Michigan in 2017 and Florida International in 2018.
  • Six of the Tigers’ regular starters at Jacksonville State finished with a .300-plus average, led by a .444 (4-for-9) average from senior DH Peter Zimmermann and .417 (5-for-12) average from junior 2B Mark Vierling.
  • The Tiger second baseman enjoyed a big series finale, reaching base in all five plate appearances as the team’s leadoff man. The St. Louis native finished with a career-high four runs scored, while matching his career-best with three hits.
  • Junior C Chad McDaniel and redshirt junior 1B Brandt Belk also enjoyed nice weekends at the plate. McDaniel launched a two-run home run on opening day, highlighting multi-hit efforts in the Tigers’ first two contests. Belk filled the stat sheet at Rudy Abbott Field, hitting .333 (3-for-9) with two RBI, five walks and two stolen bases.
