COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mizzou Baseball (11-19, 4-8 SEC) dropped the series finale at Founders Park 13-4 to No. 11 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers got on the board one pitch into the game with senior Mark Vierling crushing his third homer of the season into the grandstands in left field. South Carolina would score a pair in the first and second innings to build a 4-1 lead before junior Joshua Day added a home run of his own in the fourth inning.
Trailing 7-2, Mizzou clawed back with RBI hits in consecutive innings from freshman Garrett Rice and senior Brandt Belk to pull within three at the stretch. South Carolina iced the game, however, with a five-run eighth inning.

Hear from the Skipper
Head coach Steve Bieser on the Sunday finale…
“It was a really good game for the most part. We lost some of our focus and got involved with other things going on and that’s just part of the game. We live, we learn, we learn lessons, but I really love the way this team competes and the integrity that they have.”
