The matchup

• Mizzou meets the Jayhawks for the 346th time on Tuesday. Mizzou owns a 218-125-2 all-time record against Kansas.

• The two rivals are meeting for the first time since Mizzou moved to the SEC. The most recent meeting came in 2012 when the Tigers crushed the Jayhawks 12-2 in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals. Mizzou went on to claim the tournament crown that season.

• The series with Kansas is the most frequently played in Mizzou history and one of the oldest, dating to 1901.

on the bump

Lukas Veinbergs made his first career start to open the Frisco Classic and tossed a career-best five innings with seven strikeouts.

• Six days later, Veinbergs outdid himself, tossing 5.2 IP and setting a new career best with eight strikeouts.

• In his two starts, Veinbergs has worked 10.2 IP with a 0.84 ERA and 15 strikeouts.

• The right-hander is scheduled to make his third start on Tuesday in Lawrence.

Tre turning it on

• Junior catcher Tre Morris has hit in each of his past four games, including all three in the weekend series versus top-ranked Vanderbilt.

• Morris is hitting .385 (5-for-13) during the four-game stretch and added his third multi-hit game of the season in Saturday’s finale with the Commodores.

• In SEC play this season, Morris leads the Tigers with his .400 (6-for-15) batting average. He has a homer and team-leading four RBI during conference action.

• In the series against the Commodores, Morris hit .444 (4-for-9). He also had a pair of hard-hit line drives knocked down by pitchers to rob him of hits in Thursday’s opener.

Mcnamara returns to fold

• After winning the second base job out of fall camp, a preseason injury held sophomore Dalton McNamara out of non-conference action this spring.

• McNamara made his return to action at Taylor Stadium against Vanderbilt, pinch hitting in each of the first two games before making the start in Saturday’s finale.

• In his Saturday start, McNamara went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk. His fifth-inning knock was his first of the season.
