Mizzou Baseball Set For Home-Opening Series Against Omaha

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball is set to open its home schedule Friday against the Omaha Mavericks at Taylor Stadium. First pitch in the series-opener will be at 3 p.m. CT. The Friday matinee will be followed by a double-header on Saturday, with games beginning at noon CT and following the completion of the first game, respectively. The Sunday finale will be at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ and will be the only television broadcast of the weekend series.

The Tigers return home after a tough season-opening series in Phoenix against Grand Canyon, in which the team only took the second game of the Saturday double-header. Senior Chad McDaniel led the way, hitting .500 (5-for-10) in three games. He was followed closely by senior Mark Vierling, who hit .400 (6-for-15) against the Lopes. The team also saw productive weekends out of newcomers Andrew Keefer and Joshua Day, who both contributed multiple hits.

Out of the bullpen, the Tigers saw the debuts of a number of freshmen, including Ian Lohse, the No. 1 left-handed pitching recruit from Missouri, and Zach Hise, the No. 6 right-handed pitching recruit from Illinois. Hise highlighted the staff with a one-hit, two-strikeout save over an inning and a third in Mizzou’s win.

Fans can tune-in to KTGR (105.1 FM, 100.5 FM, 1580 AM) Friday-Sunday and throughout the entire 2021 season, as Tex Little and Matt Michaels will be on the radio airwaves.
