Columbia, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball (8-12, 1-2 SEC) will return home to Columbia after 12 consecutive road contests to face off against No. 1 Vanderbilt (16-3, 2-1 SEC) in at Thursday through Saturday matchup at Taylor Stadium. This will be the Tigers’ first time playing a No. 1 team since its series with Florida in April 2018.
The first game will be broadcast on SEC Network with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. Friday’s and Saturday’s contests will be broadcast digitally on SEC Network+ with game times slated for 7 p.m. CT and 5 p.m. CT, respectively.
Fans can tune-in to KTGR (105.1 FM, 100.5 FM, 1580 AM) to catch the Tigers throughout the entire 2021 season with Tex Little and Matt Michaels on the call.
THE MATCHUP
- Mizzou and Vanderbilt meet for the 24th time on Thursday night. The Commodores hold a 19-4 edge in the series.
- The Tigers and ‘Dores last met in 2019. Mizzou went 1-2 in Nashville, taking the middle game of the series, 5-2, behind TJ Sikkema.
- All four of Mizzou’s wins against Vanderbilt have come in the past three series with the Commodores. The Tigers took 2-of-3 from Vandy in 2018, the most recent meeting in Columbia.
SUNDAY SALVAGE
- Mizzou bounced back in the finale at Kentucky to take a 5-3 win leaving the weekend.
- Cameron Swanger delivered the big blow for the Tigers, a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the top of the eighth to give Mizzou a 4-3 lead.
- Konnor Ash, making his first appearance of the season, picked up the win with a scoreless inning of work. Ash struck out one in a 14-pitch frame.
- Jacob Kush went 1.2 IP for the hold and Lukas Veinbergs induced a soft grounder to second to earn the save.
- Collectively, the Mizzou bullpen allowed just one hit in 5.1 scoreless innings.
KEEFER COMES ALIVE
- Fifth-year Andrew Keefer has racked up a base-knock in each of the past five games to hit .444 in the stretch. The outfielder has three multi-hit games during that stretch and is 8-for-18 in the last five.
- Keefer recorded multi-hit days in each of the last two games at Kentucky, adding a double on Sunday and a run-scored on Saturday.
- In the five-game hot-streak, Keefer has added three walks to reach at a .524 clip.
- For the Kentucky series, Keefer hit a team-leading .455. He went 5-for-11 with a double, two walks and a pair of runs scored.
ASH IS BACK
- Senior RHP Konnor Ash was slated for the starting rotation before a preseason injury held the veteran out of the first 19 games of the year.
- Ash made his 2021 debut on Sunday at Kentucky, working a scoreless inning in relief and striking out a batter to earn the win out of the bullpen.
- Mizzou’s most experienced arm on the staff, Ash has worked 91 innings in his career. He was 2-0 in the shortened 2020 season as a starter, working to a 4.15 ERA in four trips to the bump.
