COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball is set to open its 2021 campaign with an opening series at Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Ariz., Friday through Sunday. First pitch on Friday will be at 4 p.m. CT.
The Friday afternoon game will be followed by a double-header on Saturday with first pitches at 3 p.m. CT and 7 p.m. CT, respectively. The series will conclude on Sunday with a 1 p.m. CT game time. This weekend is the first meeting between the Tigers and Lopes.
Mizzou will begin its season 11 months after having the 2020 season be cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the shutdown, the team was on a hot streak, taking a seven-game winning streak into what would have been the opening weekend of SEC conference play at Alabama.
The Tigers will return 21 Letter Winners to the squad, including redshirt-senior infielder Brandt Belk, who garnered 2021 preseason All-American honors. The Houston, Texas, native started the 2020 season strong, finishing the 16 games with a .457 batting average and .544 on-base percentage.
Fans can tune-in to KTGR (105.1 FM, 100.5 FM, 1580 AM) Friday-Sunday and throughout the entire 2021 season, as Tex Little and Matt Michaels will be on the radio airwaves.
