SERIES BUSINESS

  • The series is even when played at Taylor Stadium as the Tigers and ‘Cats have split 12 games in Columbia.
  • A season ago, Kentucky took the first two games of the series before the Tigers salvaged Sunday’s finale in Lexington with a 5-3 win.
  • The two have not met in Columbia since 2019, a 2-1 series win for the Tigers.

DE SEDAS DELIVERING

  • Veteran Nander De Sedas leads the Tigers and ranks fifth in the SEC with his .385 batting average.
  • De Sedas has four multi-hit performances in the past five games, hitting .500 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.
  • De Sedas has also shown a knack for the clutch moment, launching a three-run home run in the eighth inning of Saturday’s come-from-behind win against South Carolina.
  • The second baseman is hitting a team-best .524 with runners in scoring position.

AUSTIN BACK IN FORM

  • Trevor Austin has surged once again at the plate, hitting .368 (7-for-19) over the past five games with two doubles, a home run and five RBI.
  • Austin went 3-for-3 against Western Illinois on Tuesday night, finishing a triple shy of the cycle when he was lifted from the game.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

  • Kentucky enters the weekend with a 20-13 record and 4-8 mark in SEC play. The Wildcats went 1-2 last weekend at Texas A&M and took a midweek win over Bellarmine.
  • The ‘Cats are led at the plate by Chase Estep who hits .344 with nine homers and 29 RBI. Kentucky hits .291 as a team while slugging .452.
  • On the mound, it’s been a committee approach for the Wildcats as two starters are down for the season.
  • Saturday starter Tyler Bosma leads the ‘Cats with 31 IP while posting a 3.77 ERA.
