COLUMBIA, MO.— Mizzou Men’s Basketball dropped a tight contest to Ole Miss, 60-53, on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers battled back to take the lead in the second half after trailing by double digits, but the Rebels’ final surge proved to be too much in the game’s last four minute-stretch.
Senior forward Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., claimed his seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He also added four blocks and tied his season-high with three steals.
Sophomore Kobe Brown caught fire in the second half to secure his third consecutive game in double figures. He posted a team-high 12 points, including six from beyond the arc, in addition to seven boards. Senior guard Mark Smith chipped in 11 points and three rebounds.
Despite Mizzou’s stout defense holding Ole Miss to 60 points, the Rebels snagged 15 offensive rebounds and had 14 second-chance points to hold off Mizzou.
Turning Point
The Tigers trailed 33-24 at the half. Mizzou then held Ole Miss scoreless for more than five minutes to start the second half, allowing the Tigers to tie up the game with an 11-0 run. Mizzou took the lead for the first time at the 9:25 mark thanks to a left-handed hook shot from Tilmon.
