Mizzou Volleyball Begins SEC Action at Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball (3-10) opens SEC play on the road against No. 7 Kentucky (7-3) on Friday, Sept. 24, inside Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT between the Tigers and Wildcats.

Friday night’s bout will stream on SEC Network+.

SERIES SNAPSHOT

  • Mizzou trails Kentucky 11-5 in the all-time series.
  • The two sides met twice last fall, with the Wildcats taking a pair of 3-1 decisions.
  • Mizzou has experienced success in Lexington, however, with a 3-3 mark on the road the series.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Freshman middle blocker Kayla Burbage produced a historic performance in the win over North Texas last weekend, flooring 14 kills while not committing a single error. Her .667 hitting percentage was the second-best in Mizzou five-set history, while her 14 kills without an error were also the second-most in program history in a five-set match.
  • Burbage’s electric performance also highlighted a come-from-behind win for the Tigers as the rookie punctuated the match with a solo block and a kill to cap a five-set victory over North Texas. Junior Anna Dixon added 12 kills while freshman Jordan Iliff and graduate Brynn Carlson chipped in another nine terminations each.
  • Libero Emily Brown returned to double figures in digs with 13 against Illinois and 18 in the win over North Texas last weekend. Redshirt junior Erin Williamson also set a career-high with 17 digs against North Texas.
  • Freshman Kaylee Cox’s three aces against North Texas were a career high and part of a season-best nine for the Tigers in the match.
  • Brynn Carlson led Mizzou with a season-high 13 kills in their bout against Illinois State last weekend. Anna Dixon added a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs, while Jordan Iliff recorded a career-best 10 kills. Defensively, sophomore Emily Brown produced 15 digs while freshman Lauren Forbes added 11, a career-high for the rookie.

DIXON ON A ROLL

  • Anna Dixon has produced double-digit kills in eight-straight matches for the Tigers. She has 10 or more kills in 11 of Mizzou’s 13 matches this season.
  • Dixon’s 3.59 kills per set are a career best for the junior. Her 158 kills rank second in the SEC.
  • Both of Dixon’s two career double-doubles have come in the 2021 season, including a 12-kill, 13-dig performance in the most recent match versus Illinois State.
  • With 176.5 points on the season, Dixon entered the week second in the SEC in scoring.
