COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women’s fell to No. 24/25 Georgia, 82-64, on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers held a six-point lead after the first quarter and was tied with the Lady Bulldogs at halftime but was only able to muster 29 second-half points will giving up 47 to Georgia.
Turning Point
After holding even at 35 after two quarters, the ranked Lady Bulldogs came out firing in the third quarter, shooting 54.5 percent from the field (6-of-11) and 75 percent from three (3-of-4) in the third period to outscore the Tigers 22-13 and take a 57-48 lead into the fourth quarter. Mizzou cut Georgia’s lead to six on two separate occasions in the game’s final 10 minutes, but was unable to get any closer as the Tigers lost for the fourth time in five games.
Top Tigers
- Redshirt junior forward LaDazhia Williams (Bradenton, Fla.) paced the Tigers with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field while grabbing seven rebounds.
- Sophomore forward Hayley Frank (Strafford, Mo.) scored 14 points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the three-point arc.
- Redshirt junior guard Haley Troup (Gadsden, Ala.) had 14 points and shot 5-of-8 from the field.
Notes
- As a team, Mizzou shot 43.3 percent from the field (29-of-67), the 11th time this season the Tigers have shot at least 40 percent from the field.
- The Tigers also sank 53.3 percent from the three-point line (8-of-15), its second-best mark of the season and the third time this season they have shot at least 50 percent from deep.
- Williams led Mizzou in scoring for the seventh time this season with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. It marked the 15th time she has scored in double figures this season.
- Frank scored 14 points to record her 11th game this season in double figures.
- The Tiger sophomore drained three shots from beyond the three-point arc, the seventh time this season and the 19th time in her career she has made multiple three-pointers in a game.
- Troup scored in double figures for the fifth time this season and the 12th time in her career with 14 points.
- She made two triples in the game, her fourth game this season with multiple three-pointers.
- Redshirt senior guard Shug Dickson (St. Louis, Mo.) recorded a season-best eight rebounds in the game.
- Dickson also dished out four assists in the game, the 11th time this season she’s dished out at least three assists.
- Freshman guard Mama Dembele (Manlleu, Spain) had four assists in the game, the seventh time this season she has recorded at least three assists.
