FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mizzou Women’s Basketball (4-3, 0-2 SEC) gave the No. 10-ranked Arkansas Lady Razorbacks everything it could handle, but fell, 91-88, Sunday afternoon at Bud Walton Arena. Mizzou had five players score in double figures for the second time this season, led by sophomore guard Aijha Blackwell’s (Berkeley, Mo.) fourth double-double of the season.
Blackwell scored 20 points and had a game-high 14 rebounds, while redshirt guard Haley Troup (Gadsden, Ala.) willed the Tigers back in the game, scoring 13 of her season-high 15 points in the second half.
Turning Point
At the halftime break, Arkansas held an 11-point lead at 45-34, but Mizzou refused to go away in the game’s final 20 minutes. Troup sank three shots from beyond the arc and scored 11 points in the third quarter to pull Mizzou within seven points at 66-59 heading into the fourth quarter. Mizzou cut Arkansas’ lead to three on two separate occasions in the game’s final 10 minutes, but couldn’t quite overcome the deficit, falling 91-88. The Razorbacks sank 8-of-8 attempts from the free throw line in the game’s final 2:08 to seal the victory.
TOP TIGERS
- Blackwell notched her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season with 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. She also added three assists and two steals in the game.
- Troup recorded a season-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 shooting from deep.
- Redshirt junior forward LaDazhia Williams (Bradenton, Fla.) scored 14 points and five rebounds despite only playing 18 minutes due to foul trouble.
NOTES
- Mizzou shot 52.5 percent (32-of-61) from the field in the game, marking the fifth time in seven games the Tigers have shot 50 percent or better from the field. Mizzou continues to lead the SEC in field goal percentage, checking in at 51.8 percent (212-of-419) for the season.
- The Tigers sank 85.0 percent of its shots from the free throw line (17-of-20), marking the fourth time this season Mizzou has been successful on 75 percent or more of its shots from the charity stripe.
- Mizzou outrebounded the Razorbacks, 42-32, the sixth time in seven games this season Mizzou has outrebounded its opponent.
- With 20 points and 14 rebounds, Blackwell recorded her second straight double-double, her fourth of the season and the 11th of her career. Her 14 rebounds matched a career-high, a mark she has now reached three times with the most recent occasion happening against Vanderbilt on Feb. 20, 2020.
- Blackwell reached 20 points for the second time this season and the 10th time in her career.
- Troup played her best game of the season, as she scored 15 points on a career-best 6-of-8 shooting from the field. She also made a season-best three shots from the three-point line.
- Williams scored in double figures for the sixth time in seven games this season with 14 points.
- The Tiger junior also set career-highs in free throws made (eight) and free throws attempted (10) in the game.
- Sophomore forward Hayley Frank (Strafford, Mo.) scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds in the game, marking her 26th career game in double figures, sixth this season, and the 17th time in her career she has grabbed five rebounds (fifth this season).
- Redshirt senior guard Shug Dickson (St. Louis, Mo.) scored 13 points to mark fourth game this season and 30th career game in double figures. Dickson also dished out a team-high three assists.

Mizzou is next scheduled to play on Sunday, Jan. 10 when the Tigers travel to Auburn for a 2 p.m. CT tipoff on SEC Network +. Mizzou’s midweek Thursday game against Vanderbilt was postponed due to COVID-19 related issues within the Vanderbilt program.
