MLB: Cards’ Jordan Hicks Opts Out, Cites Preexisting Condition

St. Louis Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks opted out of playing this season, citing preexisting health concerns.

The hard throwing pitcher has Type 1 diabetes.

Hicks said he looks forward to playing in 2021 and using his platform to raise awareness for the diabetic community.

He had been taking part in workouts at Busch Stadium, leading up to the Cardinals’ opener on July 24th at home against Pittsburgh.
