NFL Playoffs: Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs Bash Buffalo Bills, Return to Super Bowl For Meeting With Tom Brady, Bucs

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl.

Mahomes won his second AFC Championship with the 38-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and will have the ultimate matchup against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

**The Chiefs star will become the latest quarterback to make multiple Super Bowl starts. He will join Bart Starr, Jim Plunkett, Eli Manning, Len Dawson, Joe Theismann, Brett Favre, Russell Wilson and Craig Morton who have made no more than two starts in a Super Bowl game.

**Mahomes will try to be the first quarterback since Brady to lead his team to back-to-back Super Bowl titles. The New England Patriots were the last team to repeat as Super Bowl champions (2003 and 2004 seasons).

THE GAME:

Mahomes finished 29-for-38 with three touchdown passes. Two of his three touchdowns went to tight end Travis Kelce. The other was to Mecole Hardman.

The Chiefs got out to a sluggish start though. The Bills put up nine points in the first quarter and it appeared that Josh Allen was going to make things tough on the defending Super Bowl champions. However, Kansas City used a 21-point second quarter to derail the Bills’ momentum.

Two Bills punts in the second quarter led to Chiefs touchdowns on the other end.

Tyreek Hill had nine catches for 172 yards, including a 71-yard catch-and-run. Hardman put together a 50-yard run in the game.

Kansas City intercepted Josh Allen once and sacked him four times.

The young Bills quarterback finished 28-for-48 with 287 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team with 88 rushing yards. His touchdown passes went to Dawson Knox and Isaiah McKenzie.

SUPER BOWL

The Chiefs and Buccaneers will now have a rematch of their Week 12 game. Kansas City won that one 27-24. Mahomes threw for 462 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Super Bowl LV is set for Feb. 7.
