The Royals failed to complete a three-game sweep of the Pirates. Kansas City lost to Pittsburgh 4-3 at PNC Park. Maikel Garcia, Yuli Gurriel and Bobby Witt Jr. each had an RBI in the losing effort. Starting pitcher Brady Singer was charged with the loss and dropped to 9-and-11 after allowing four runs through five innings. The Royals had a two-game winning streak snapped and sit second in the AL Central at 82-and-68. They return home to host the Detroit Tigers tonight. Right-hander Seth Lugo is scheduled to start the series opener.
