Pitcher That Inspired ‘A League of Their Own,’ Mary Pratt, Dies at 101

Mary Pratt, who is the last surviving member of the original 1943 All-American Girls Professional Baseball League team the Rockford Peaches, died Wednesday. She was 101.

The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League team was profiled in the 1992 movie, “A League of Their Own.”

Pratt pitched in the league for five summers and was a gym teacher.

She played for the Rockford Peaches and Kenosha Comets.

Pratt’s nephew said she passed away peacefully in her sleep at a nursing home in Braintree, Massachusetts.
