The St. Louis Cardinals surrendered three runs in the top of the seventh during a 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Busch Stadium. The Cards led by two entering the inning, but JoJo Romero gave up a two-run go-ahead home run to Brandon Lowe and was charged with his second loss. Nolan Arenado drove in a run, scored twice and had three hits for St. Louis. Arenado is 12 for 30 in August with three doubles and six RBI. Paul Goldschmidt drove in a pair of runs during the losing effort. The Cardinals are in second place in the NL Central at 59-and-57, but they’re seven games out of first place and two-and-a-half games out of the final NL Wild Card spot.
