Nelson Velazquez had a big day at the plate as the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 6-1 at Target Field. Velazquez finished the game with two home runs and three RBI during the victory. Kansas City trailed by one entering the third before plating four runs to take the lead for good. Salvador Perez also went deep for the Royals, while Seth Lugo earned his ninth win after holding Minnesota to one run on six hits in six innings. The Royals snapped a three-game losing streak.
