Soccer Sneaks by Northern Colorado in First Road Test

GREELEY, Colo. – Mizzou (4-2-0) was able to get past Northern Colorado (1-4-2) thanks to a 13th minute goal from Skye Kingsley. The Tigers have extended their winning streak to four games.

In the first half, Missouri was the aggressor early. Each of the Tigers’ first three shots were on goal, including Kingsley’s 13th minute header. Julissa Cisneros played a cross into the box and Kingsley was able to get a head on it and just get it past the Northern Colorado keeper.

Just a few minutes later, Milena Fischer nearly provided another spectacular goal from distance. Her right-footed shot nearly bent into the top right corner of the goal, but the Bears’ keeper was able to get a hand on it and deflect it off the crossbar for a corner kick.

Sophia Worth made a diving save on a shot that came from just outside the six-yard box in the 28th minute to preserve the Tigers lead. The Bears were able to connect on a low cross to serve up the dangerous attempt.

The majority of the Tigers’ shots were from distance, and they were unable to put them on goal. The UNC keeper was relatively untested in the final 45 minutes.
