COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri baseball (4-1) visits Louisiana-Monroe (1-2) for a three-game set which marks the end of an eight-game road trip through Louisiana. The Tigers and Warhawks are slated to begin the weekend series with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday, Feb. 25.

SERIES BUSINESS
- The Tigers are 5-0 all-time against the Warhawks, with the last meeting coming in 2007.
- Mizzou is 3-0 in Monroe, sweeping a doubleheader in 2006 and earning a win in 2003.
- 3-of-5 all-time meetings have been decided by three runs or less.
SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS
- ULM went 1-2 against Southern Illinois on opening weekend, winning the opener before dropping the final two games in the series.
- The Warhawks used a masterful performance from ace Cam Barlow to win on Friday night. The left-hander went seven innings while scattering four hits and striking out 11 as part of a combined shutout.
- Sunday starter Tyler Lein also did not allow an earned run in his first start of the season, working four innings with two unearned on his ledger.
- ULM hit just .221 as a team on opening weekend. Infielder Carson Jones provided five of the Warhawks 13 RBI in the series, hitting .222 with a homer.
PEÑA MAKING PLAYS
- Freshman Carlos Peña burst onto the scene in his collegiate debut by hitting .333 with a double, triple and team leading six RBI on opening weekend.
- Peña leads the Tigers with nine RBI through five games this season.
- He hit a game-tying triple in the seventh inning of Monday’s finale at Nicholls and produced four of his six RBI with two outs.
- Peña added an outfield assist, showing off his arm with a strong throw from the RF corner to cut down a potential triple on a relay.
- On Wednesday at Southern, the freshman showed his power tool, launching a no-doubt blast to RF to help Mizzou break away in the 19-8 win. The homer was his first at the collegiate level.
MONTGOMERY MASHING
- Junior first baseman Torin Montgomery kickstarted his 2022 campaign with a seven-hit weekend against Nicholls and added another two knocks at Southern.
- The nine hits lead all Mizzou players and rank second in the SEC entering the weekend.
- Montgomery has scored six runs through the first five games.
- The veteran has locked down a spot in the middle of the order for the black & gold, and produced three RBI in the first weekend while adding a fourth at Southern.
RECORD-TYING DAY
- When Mizzou faced Southern on Wednesday night, the Tigers matched a 59-year-old record with 20 strikeouts as a pitching staff.
- The record harkens back to the infancy of the Big Eight, when the Tigers won a 21-7 game against Colorado on April 18, 1963.
- Nathan Landry was stellar in earning the win at Southern, fanning 10 Jaguars in 4.1 innings of relief.
