Travis Kelce Is Buying Into The Cleveland Guardians

Travis Kelce is expanding his sports business empire by buying a minority ownership stake in MLB’s Cleveland Guardians — the baseball team he grew up rooting for in his hometown of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Kelce called the move a “dream come true” and said it’s a way to stay connected to the city that shaped him.

The Kansas City Chiefs star said baseball was actually his first love before football took over, and he used to attend Guardians games as a kid. He discussed the investment on his “New Heights” podcast and joked that one of his first goals as an owner is redeeming himself after his famously bad ceremonial first pitch in 2023.

Financial details of the deal were not released, but Kelce joins the team’s ownership group at a time when more active athletes are investing in pro sports franchises. His Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes already owns stakes in several teams, including MLB’s Kansas City Royals.

The news also comes as Kelce continues making headlines off the field because of his relationship with Taylor Swift and reports about their upcoming wedding
