A woman who accused ex-MLB star, Trevor Bauer, of sexual assault has just been hit with a criminal charge herself.
The charge formally filed in Arizona on Monday accuses Darcy Esemonu of defrauding Bauer into paying her for an abortion that he believes never happened.
Last year, the woman claimed that Bauer raped her in 2020 and got her pregnant. Bauer countersued, admitting that they had consensual sex, but denying any wrongdoing.
He claimed the woman told him she was pregnant and asked for more than $1 million to terminate the baby. Bauer says he gave her nearly $9,000 to cover the cost of the procedure, but the woman’s medical records show that she was never even pregnant.
Court records show the woman was also charged with fraud and extortion due to her interactions with another man. Bauer says that he’s now hopeful that he might get another crack at pitching in the MLB again.
