COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball will host Southern at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2024-25 home opener at Mizzou Arena. The contest will be streamed live on SECN+.
Missouri is 41-8 all-time in home openers including a 14-0 record in the Robin Pingeton era.
The Tigers dropped the season opener to Vermont on Monday.
2023-24 All-SEC Freshman Team honoree Grace Slaughter led the offensive effort with 16 points including a perfect eight-of-eight performance from the charity stripe.
Senior newcomer Laniah Randle contributed 11 points and five rebounds in her Tiger debut.
Junior guard Ashton Judd grabbed seven rebounds while also adding seven points.
Nyah Wilson, Tilda Sjökvist and De’Myla Brown also made their debuts in the Black and Gold while Londyn Oliphant made her first collegiate appearance.
Thursday will mark the third meeting between the two programs with Missouri winning the previous two matchups. The Tigers last defeated the Jaguars on Dec. 20, 2021.
Southern enters the game at 0-1 following a loss at Oklahoma on Monday.
The Jaguars finished last season at 15-15 overall including a 13-5 mark in SWAC play.
Southern was defeated by Alcorn State in the first round of the conference tournament.
Carlos Funchess coaches the program in his seventh season on the sidelines with a 95-86 overall record.
The Jaguars roster is headlined by senior Aniya Gourdine who led the team with 11 points against the Sooners.

Season tickets for the 2024-25 season are on sale now and start at just $49. Current season-ticket holders can renew their tickets by using their Mizzou Tigers account. Single-game tickets are also available including $4 tickets to see Thursday’s home opener against Southern.
Fans have additional options with the Mizzou Mini Plan which includes tickets to games against last year’s NCAA tournament teams, South Carolina, Tennessee and LSU.
