Women’s Basketball Travels to Face Western Illinois

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball travels for the second time this season to face Western Illinois at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Tigers are coming off a win against Tulane on Tuesday. They forced a season-high 26 turnovers against the Green Wave.

Sophomore Grace Slaughter led Missouri with a career-high 22 points on Tuesday. The 2023-24 All-SEC Freshman Team member went 8-12 from the field and 3-3 from behind the arc, tying a career-high in 3-pointers made.

Sophomore Abbey Schreake added eight points off the bench and a career-high four steals.

Schreake has led Missouri scoring off the bench each game this season while ranking sixth in the SEC in 3-point percentage (47.4) and fifth in 3-point makes per game (2.8).

Redshirt sophomore Averi Kroenke made her first career start against Tulane, contributing a career-high six assists.

Graduate student Angelique added 10 points and a career-high three steals. She also recorded a season-high nine rebounds and three blocks.

Senior Laniah Randle tied her season-high with 12 points marking the third time she has reached double-digit points this season.

The contest will mark the 14th meeting all-time between the two programs. Missouri leads the series, 12-1, including a 2-1 record away from Mizzou Arena.

Western Illinois enters the contest with a 3-0 record following a victory over Kansas City on Tuesday.

The Leathernecks finished last season at 18-12 after a loss to Tennessee Tech in the opening round of the OVC Tournament.

Western Illinois is coached by JD Gravina who is in his 14th season at the helm, holding a record of 201-193.

The Leathernecks are led by sophomore Reagan McCowan who is averaging 22.7 points and 8.3 rebounds.

Junior Mia Nacastro is contributing 20.3 points and 7.7 boards per game this season.
