Yankees 4, Royals 2

The Royals dropped their series opener to the New York Yankees 4-2 in the first outing of a three-game set. Bobby Witt Jr. had an RBI and extended his hitting streak to 11 games and has hit safely in 21 of his last 22. Starting pitcher Seth Lugo was charged with the loss and fell to 9-and-2 after allowing four runs through seven innings. It’s Lugo’s first loss since since April 21st. The Royals have lost two in a row and sit second in the AL Central at 39-and-28. Right-hander Brady Singer is slated to start against New York righty Marcus Stroman.
