The West Plains Zizzers took on the Lebanon Yellowjackets at the Zizzer Homecoming game on October 7, 2022.
The Zizzers and Jackets played an amazing first half of the game. The first quarter was a game of defense, with both teams keeping the other from gaining a touchdown, each team recovering a fumble from the other. The second quarter saw some amazing plays by both teams. The Zizzers made the first touchdown to which Lebanon answered with one of their own. West Plains made their second touchdown followed by a recovered onside kick. The first half ended with the Zizzers leading 21 to 15.
Lebanon makes the first touchdown within the first minute of the third quarter. West Plains responded with their own on the next possession. The Yellowjackets came right back and stung the Zizzers with another touchdown and 2-point conversion, retaking the lead with 4 minutes left in the third quarter, 30 to 27. West Plains took another TD and 2-point conversion of their own with less than 3 minutes remaining, 35-30.
The Jackets started the fourth with a quick TD and another conversion taking a three point lead over the Zizzers, 35 to 38. Lebanon intercepted what would be a touchdown pass for West Plains and scored another touchdown, growing their lead by another six points. Zizzers were able to make a touchdown under the final two minutes of the game but it wasn’t enough to take the win.
The West Plains Zizzers lose their second game of the season, 42 to 45.
