He was born to Thomas Grover Lance and Effie Jane Lance on July 12, 1930, in Alton, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers (Noel, Edward, Clifford, Grant) and his sisters (Leola and Gaylene).
He is survived by his wife Allen Jean Lance, three children, Cindy Lance Ott (Bob) of Chesterfield, MO, Terry Lance of St. Peters, MO and Steve (Susan) Lance of St. Louis, MO. He had four grandchildren, Danny (Natassia) Ott of St Charles, MO, Jacky (Matt) Murphy of Overland Park, KS, Samantha Lance of St Louis, MO and Lisa (Lonnie) Grove of Chesterfield, MO. He had seven great-grandchildren, Ray, June, Rose, Annie, Brandon, Nick, Mariah and numerous nieces and nephews, plus many special friends-among them Junior Roberts who held a special place in his heart.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and worked for General Motors for 30 years. Charlie spent many years on his farm where he built a cabin-his most treasured place on earth. He loved being among the deep, wooded Oak forests of Oregon County and especially taking boat rides up and down the sparkling waters of the Eleven Point River. He loved sharing stories over an open fire of the history of the Ozark region as well as his fishing and hunting adventures.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, at the Many Springs Baptist Church in Many Springs, MO, with burial following in the Many Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 10am-11am just prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Many Springs Baptist Church would be appreciated.
