Teresa Jo Horton

Teresa “TC” Jo Horton of Thayer, Missouri passed away on April 23, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Teresa was born to Billy and Charleen Doremus in Kennett, Missouri on February 25, 1960. She is the youngest of 3 girls. In 1974, Billy moved the family to Atlanta Georgia where she met the love of her life. On August 22, 1976 she married John Horton in a small ceremony. Teresa and John welcomed their first son Travis in November of the same year. Shortly, followed by their second child and only daughter Vanessa, who was born in October of 1979. For not long after by their last son, Billy in December 1980. A few short years later the family moved to Lancaster, Texas. Teresa started working for the Lancaster Independent School District, where she started as a cafeteria worker and worked her way up to being the operations manager until she retired. What she enjoyed most about her job was helping the kids. In October 2018 Teresa and John moved to Thayer, Missouri.

Teresa was a one of a kind person. With her personality, and kind heart she impacted everyone she came in contact with. She was extremely passionate and protective of her family. To Teresa, her family was the most important thing in her life. Her love was unconditional , and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the people she loved.

Teresa loved cuddling up in her chair with her partner Layla, and enjoying her guilty pleasures of watching reruns of criminal minds, Two and a Half Men and Love after Lockup. She liked relaxing with her crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 47 years, John Horton of Thayer, MO, two sons and one daughter. Travis Horton and his wife, Stephanie of Trinidad, Vanessa Frizzell and her husband, Chris of Frost, Tx, and son Billy Horton of Thayer, MO, her sister Sandra St Martin and husband Anthony, of Sharpsburg, Ga. Along with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Billy and Charleen Doremus, and one sister, Sharon Carol Lions.

Teresa was greatly loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her wish was to have donations in lieu of flowers made to the American Lung Association or the ASPCA.
