SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State University has named Hannah Keeling as its new women’s tennis head coach, Director of Athletics Kyle Moats announced today (Jan. 5).
Keeling is a former NCAA Division II top-20 singles tennis player at Clayton State University who comes to Springfield after three seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis programs at Georgia Gwinnett College.
In her three seasons with the Grizzlies, she has help mentor both team and individual national championships at Georgia Gwinnett. The 2018 and 2019 spring seasons culminated with GGC sweeping the NAIA national team titles in Mobile, Ala. She also helped coach Madeline Bosnjak to the 2018 NAIA women’s singles national championship and most recently helped Maria Genovese win the 2020 women’s singles title during the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga.
Keeling earned the 2019 ITA Southeast Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year award after helping lead the Grizzlies to a national championship and a 20-1 record. During her time in Lawrenceville, Georgia Gwinnett accumulated a record of 117-3 in men’s and women’s dual meets with 15 All-Americans.
“I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to take over the Missouri State women’s tennis program,” Keeling said. “I would like to thank Director of Athletics Kyle Moats for this opportunity, and I can’t wait to get started in Springfield. I am ready to take what I learned from Georgia Gwinnett and implement those things here at Missouri State. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and many successes in the future.”
As a player, Keeling earned four first-team all-conference honors in singles and doubles at Clayton State in Morrow, Ga., from 2012-15. She helped the team reach a No. 4 Division II national ranking during the 2012-13 season. Keeling also was the top-ranked national junior tennis player in the United Kingdom while playing for Hampshire, England. She supplemented her American collegiate career by spending several years playing in the women’s French national circuit.
Keeling earned a bachelor’s degree in health and fitness management from Clayton State in 2015.
She has also served as the director of the Stars of the Future program at Ginepri Performance Tennis located at Olde Towne Athletic Club in Marietta, Ga., where she helped develop junior players for the collegiate and professional levels. In this role, Keeling worked alongside Robbie Ginepri, a former No. 15 ranked ATP player, and Jason Parker, a Women’s Tennis Association/ATP coach.
Keeling is still active in the International Tennis Federation’s professional circuit and several pro-am charity events throughout the United States.
She replaces Mallory Weber who spent six-and-a-half seasons at Missouri State before accepting a position as Community Recreation Coordinator of Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield in October. Weber was helped lead the reinstatement of the MSU women’s program in 2014 after an eight-season hiatus.
Keeling’s hire is contingent upon approval by the Missouri State Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting.
