Barbara Jean (Bess) Loman, a resident of Cabool, MO passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 while at her residence. She was born September 9, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Darrell Virgil and Joyce Carroll (McReynolds) Bess and was 62 years old.
Growing up in Cabool, Barbara spent most of her time with her grandparents, Kent and Alice McReynolds. She attended the local schools in and graduated from the Cabool High School. She married Leon Loman and to this union two sons were born. She was employed in various occupations during her career; she was a machine operator at a shoe factory, and she also did retail sales, maintenance, and office work. She was a familiar face at the El Rancho truck stop where she not only was a waitress but was the office manager as well. At the age of 40, Barbara returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Drury University in Business Administration and Psychology with a minor in Environmental studies. Barbara was very talented in wood crafts and was accepted as a member of the Silver Dollar City Craft Guild for her original design for a rocking horse pattern. She also loved oil painting; however, her favorite pastime was gardening, both flowers and vegetables. She loved the outdoors: fishing, swimming, and exploring. She was strong in her Christian faith and attended Westside Family Life Center and had many dear friends. She will be greatly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents: Kent and Alice McReynolds and Virgil and Lillie Bess.
She is survived by two sons: Steven Loman of Cabool, and Jason Loman of Mtn. Grove; a sister, Debra Lewis of Sullivan, MO; a brother, Ken Bess of Emporia, KS; a grandson, Brandon Loman of Columbia, and a granddaughter, Dominique Loman of Springfield. Further survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Westside Family Life Center with Pastor David Lovan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC. Online condolences may be left at www.willowspringsfuneralhome.com.
