Death at Licking Prison appears to be from natural causes

West Plains, MO. – A man in prison for murder and serving time at the South Central Correctional Center has died. 

Orien Owens, age 52, was serving a life sentence for the first-degree murder of Marlene Krabbenhoft in 2004. He was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on September 26, 2006.

Owens was pronounced deceased at South Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at 5:16 p.m. on Friday, September 15th. The correctional center stated in a press release that Owens died of apparent natural causes.
