Texas County Man Charged With Sexual Misconduct

Texas County, MO. – On April 25, Texas County resident Rex L. Wood was arrested and charged with abuse and neglect of a child- sexual contact and second-degree sexual abuse. 

According to the arrest report, Sergeant Ruben Salazar with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Houston Police Department on the assault investigation involving a child under the age of 18. The victim’s mother had said that she pepper sprayed Wood after hearing that he had sexually assaulted her daughter the night before. The victim stated that she had been woken multiple times throughout the night by Rex Wood touching her inappropriately while she was asleep on the couch.

During the interrogation, Wood stated that there was no reason he got peppered sprayed because none of the events had happened. Wood advised that he had been sleeping on the couch for a couple of nights already and that night he was in the rocking chair next to the couch. He stated that he got up to use other facilities and when he came back he tiredly stumbled into the couch, but that when he had touched the victim it was not sexual.

Rex L. Wood is being held at the Texas County Jail with a $2,000 cash-only bond.
