Evelyn Lorene Uher

Evelyn Lorene (Mace) Uher was born July 31, 1932 in Anutt, MO to William Clyde “Bud” and Fern (Leonard) Mace. She passed away August 21, 2024, in Licking, MO. Evelyn married Donald Jack Uher on August 30, 1952, and they were married for 71 years before Don passed away on November 28, 2023. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Fern Mace. Evelyn grew up in Anutt and Lenox and graduated from Anutt High School in 1949. She was an only child and grew up helping her dad on the farm. Her first job was at International Shoe in Salem, MO making 75 cents an hour. She also worked at Jack Downing’s Dime Store, another dime store in Houston, the Licking Newspaper, and finally at Rawlings Sporting Goods for 17 years, where she did payroll. Evelyn was a faithful member of the Licking United Methodist Church. Evelyn & Don enjoyed sports, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Licking Wildcats. They attended Licking High School sporting events for well over 50 years, never missing games their children and grandchildren played in, and when they could no longer attend, they would listen when they were on the radio. Evelyn is survived by her children, Terry (Bill) Taylor, Larry (Lyudmyla) Uher, and Linda (Brian) Friend; grandchildren, Jon (Susan) Taylor, Chris (Tammie) Taylor, Evan (Cassi) Friend, Kelsey (Chad) Gillaspy, Megan (Cole) Roark, and Iryna Zolotar; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Jackson Friend, John Friend, Elsie Friend, August Friend, Collins Roark, and Griffin Roark. A visitation was held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the Licking United Methodist Church. A funeral service followed at 3:00 PM at the church with Pastor Bob McQueen officiating. Pallbearers were Jon Taylor, Chris Taylor, Evan Friend, Chad Gillaspy, Cole Roark, Jackson Friend and John Friend. Per Evelyn’s wishes, she was cremated after the funeral and will be interred at the Anutt Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Licking Bridge Builders Senior Center.
