West Plains, MO. – The Gallery at the Center, located on the mezzanine of the West Plains Civic Center, will be hosting a new exhibit starting on September 14th, and will feature a somewhat unique Ozarks-style type of architecture.
Organizers from the West Plains Council on the Arts say this style of building has been popularized as being called the “giraffe rock” style of building rocks structures, which is often seen around our corner of the US. It is defined by the multicolored earth-toned field stones or slab rock separated by beaded mortar.
This exhibit is called “Ozarks Buildings: Cultural Heritage and Containers of Spirit”, which was made by local artist Barbara Williams.
An opening reception for the exhibit has been planed for September 19th from 5:30pm to 7pm.
