Rheba Jane Pool, 88 years, 9 months, and 21 days old, passed to Heaven on December 2, 2024, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Missouri, with family by her side.
Rheba was born February 12, 1936, in Roy, Missouri, to Albert “Bert” William Carson and Eugenia Jane (Gott) Carson.
Rheba was raised in the Roy community in Douglas County. She graduated from Ava High School in 1954. She worked as a Nurses Assistant for years at the Ava Nursing Home. She also worked at Ava Town and Country Supermarket as head baker for 17 years. Rheba was a hard worker and often worked multiple jobs to raise her children.
On April 24, 1954, Rheba and Raymond Johnson were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri, and to this union two sons were born, Roger and Bill. He preceded her in death.
On July 9, 1993, Rheba and Lonnie Pool were united in marriage in Ava. He preceded her in death in 2016.
She was a Christian and attended the First General Baptist Church and later attended the Ava General Baptist Church. She loved going to church until her health failed but while in the nursing home she attended services there. She looked forward to playing Bingo with her resident friends at Heart of the Ozarks. Rheba loved people and had many, many friends through the years. Mostly, she loved cooking and spending time with her ever growing family. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed crocheting and quilt making and made many beautiful pieces she shared with family. In addition she loved fishing and being in the outdoors. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond and Lonnie; her parents; her daughter, Carolyn Medlock; her son, Jimmy Medlock; and brother, Glen Carson.
Rheba is survived by her sons and their spouses, Roger and Bev Johnson, and Bill and Debbie Johnson; step children, Lonnie Pool Jr., Richard Pool, Ronnie Pool, and daughter, Sherri Pool; grandchildren, Dustin, Landon, Heather, Casey, Miranda, Matt, Cody, and Myka; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Rheba will be Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri, with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday prior to the service at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastor James Hathcock. Family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
