AVA, Mo. — Patricia Hurt, 28, of Ava, was arrested May 28 after a Douglas County grand jury indictment for failure to register as a sex offender.
Hurt was arrested by Douglas County Deputy Shane Hardin. Bond was set at $1,500.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the indictment followed a joint investigation between the sheriff’s office and Probation and Parole. Authorities said the investigation found Hurt had moved into Douglas County and failed to register as a sex offender.
“There are several requirements that must be followed by those who are required to register as sex offenders, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will relentlessly pursue those who are not in compliance,” Sheriff Chris Degase said.
All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
