Funeral Services for Janis B. Mayberry, Age 93 of Plato, Missouri will be held on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 at The Roby Christian Church, Roby, Missouri, beginning at 1:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place in The West Wind Cemetery, Plato, Missouri.
Janis Borneman Mayberry, age 93, daughter of Loyd and Melba (Duffey) Bornemen, was born July 29, 1933, at Brownwood, MO and passed away August 13, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Plato, MO, embraced by her family.
Janis is preceded in death by her husband, Harold (2007); sister, Joyce McCartha (2021); and her parents. She is survived by her children, Susan Spector-Chew of Plato, MO and Bradley (Kim) Mayberry of St. Clair, MO; her grandchildren, Lisa (Kyle) Lambert of Plato, MO, Brady Mayberry and Breanna Mayberry of St. Clair, MO.
Janis was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 240 at Plato, MO. In the past, she was a charter member of the Roby Saddle Club, member of the Texas County Democrats, and served as a committee woman. She worked for many years on the election board.
She grew up in Stoddard County, MO and graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, MO in 1952 and married Harold that summer. They moved to St. Louis, MO and lived there for several years. Harold joined the U.S. Army, which brought them to the Plato area in the mid-1950s where they put down their roots and later raised their children. Together they also ran a successful business for 15 years. Janis also worked alongside Harold raising cattle. She had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed taking care of the lawn and her plants, which she did until she became ill a few days before her death. She loved her family and visiting with friends and will be greatly missed.
