The Ozarks is currently experiencing high amounts of rainfall, and more is expected today and into the evening to nighttime hours, which means widespread flooding across the listening area is possible.
Audio from Shelby Melto, Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield with what to expect going forward:
With many low-water bridges in the area, we want to remind listeners to be very careful with the concept of crossing these places. The National Weather Service advises several courses of action to take when flooding conditions are present.
Avoid flooded roadways, as pavement could have been washed out.
Do not enter water that is flowing higher that 6 inches. Most passenger vehicles cannot exceed this level without taking water, and even walking in flowing water this deep can cause falls.
Be especially cautious at night, as water levels can be harder to evaluate and a potential rescue operation could be hampered should you run into trouble.
