Ava Man Faces Multiple Charges After a Domestic Call

An Ava man was arrested Friday after police say he assaulted his pregnant wife at their home in the Maple Lane Mobile Home Park. According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Douglas County, officers were dispatched after the woman fled to a neighbor’s home and reported that her husband, 43‑year‑old Reuben Curtis Ingram, had attacked her. Officers noted red marks on her face, chest, and arm, and she told police she was seven months pregnant and had been “smacked” or “punched” and held down to prevent her from calling for help.

The affidavit states the woman wrote in her voluntary statement that Ingram “open‑handed smacked me in the face and put me in a head lock… holding me down on the bed.” A 12‑year‑old child in the home told officers she heard her mother say, “Get off of me.”

Police found Ingram outside a nearby RV where he sleeps. He denied striking his wife but admitted there were times of “scuffling,” according to the report. He was taken into custody without incident and booked on a 24‑hour hold.

Six children were present at the residence, including two minors asleep in the bedroom where the alleged assault occurred.

Ingram is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Abuse or Neglect of a Child and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
