Baxter County Sheriff’s Office July 4th Activity Report

Mountain Home, AR. – The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activity during the Independence Day weekend holiday, July 3rd through July 5th.

Deputies responded to 72 calls for service and made 62 vehicle stops for traffic violations and other offenses.  Those stops resulted in a total of 87 citations and warnings being issued.  Deputies also responded to 8 motor vehicle traffic accidents.

A total of 14 people were booked into the Baxter County Detention Center from arrests made by all law enforcement agencies during that period on a total of 40 separate charges.  Of those charges, 7 were for felonies and 33 were for misdemeanors.  Drug and alcohol offenses accounted for 9 of those charges.

Deputies assisted fire departments with 1 structure fire.

In addition to regular patrol shifts, deputies also provided patrol services for the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Parks under contract and participated in the Select Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) as well, which is funded by a grant.

Deputies also provided traffic control and crowd control services for the Lake Norfork Fireworks event on July 3rd.
