The Calico Rock Lions Club will once again bring the community and surrounding area their annual 4th of July Rayvon Cantrell Fireworks Extravaganza on Monday, July 3 at dusk in Earl King Park off State Highway 56 in Calico Rock.
Before the fireworks, members of the Calico Rock Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand with the return of their BBQ Chicken dinner fundraiser, a tradition that was resumed last year following the COVID interruption.
For rodeo enthusiasts, the “Buckin’ On the Rock” bull riding competition is back. It will be held in the Tip Wiseman Rodeo Arena adjacent to Earl King Park beginning at 6:30 pm and running ‘til the fireworks begin. Local area professional bull rider Tyler Lewis will be coordinating.
The Lions work at raising money to help finance the annual show aimed at celebrating American independence. “We are committed to providing our community, area residents, and visitors with wholesome, family fun on the birthday of our nation,” said Lions Club Secretary, Rich Fischer. “All Lions throughout the world strive to live up to the organization’s international motto ‘We Serve’. . .and our annual fireworks display is just one way we can demonstrate our ongoing commitment.”
The Lions will be stationed at park exits following the conclusion of the show accepting donations from attendees who wish to show their appreciation and help support local Lions’ charitable projects.
