Ozark County, MO – April 10, 2025 – Multiple emergency agencies responded Thursday afternoon to a report of a stranded motorist caught in high water on Haskins Ford Bridge, located on County Road 863.
At approximately 2:29 p.m., the Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department (TAVFD) received the initial call. The reporting party stated that their vehicle was stuck on the bridge, rocking in the rising water, and they feared it might wash off.
When emergency units arrived on the scene, they observed a sedan stalled on the bridge. Fortunately, the driver had managed to safely reach the Thornfield side of Haskins Bridge on foot. No injuries were reported, and the scene was later turned over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol for further assistance.
Agencies dispatched to assist include: Theodosia, Thornfield, Wasola, Tecumseh, Ozark County Ambulance, Ozark County Sheriff’s Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Theodosia unit cleared the scene and was back in service by 4:16 p.m.
This incident serves as an important reminder to avoid crossing bridges or roads with water flowing over them. Emergency officials urge drivers to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” and use extreme caution during periods of heavy rain and flooding.
