Male In Jail After Police Chase Through Wright County

Wright County, MO. – One man was arrested following a long police chase through Wright County. 

On June 2, 2024, a Wright County Deputy observed a vehicle without license plates sitting on the side of the road and turned on his lights to do a routine traffic stop. The deputy exited his vehicle and talked to the individual inside the Dodge Charger. The man gave the deputy a fake name and when he returned to his patrol vehicle the individual, later identified as 37-year-old Jason Jones, took off in his car. The deputy pursued the vehicle down the road, where he observed Jones failing to follow any road laws and refusing to stop at the sight of police sirens.

The Mountain Grove Police Department set up stop sticks ahead of the vehicle. In trying to get around them, Jones attempted to hit a waiting officer with his vehicle. After a 45-minute chase, Jones was taken into custody. After a search of the vehicle, the deputy and other officers located many illegal items including, many containers of marijuana, containers of methamphetamine, a clear electric grinder with white residue, a digital scale, numerous driver’s licenses and credit cards with different names, and a set of license plates. Located on Jones person was $995 worth of cash. 

Jason Jones is being charged with assault 1st degree or attempt- serious physical injury of special victim, delivering controlled substance except 35 grams or less marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to affix motor vehicle with license plates, failure to register motor vehicle, owning or operating without maintaining financial responsibility – First offense, possession of control substance except 35 grams or less marijuana, resisting arrest by fleeing and creating substantial risk of serious injury or death.
