Douglas County – On March 3, 2024, at 6:15, 40-year-old Lisa Sutton and 53-year-old David Taylor, were arrested after being pulled over and caught in the possession of a controlled substance.
Information on the case was derived from the probable cause affidavit on the case, as well as a recent announcement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Aaron Box and Deputy Sam Evans were doing a routine patrol on State Highway West 14 near Dogwood Hill when they spotted a vehicle that appeared to be trespassing upon private property near the Beaver Creek Bridge. The white Dakota Dodge entered back on the highway and Deputy Aaron Box pulled over to perform an investigative traffic stop. The vehicle contained David Taylor in the driver’s seat and Lisa Sutton sitting in the passenger seat. After being asked to produce a driver’s license and identification, David Taylor advised that he did not have a driver’s license. After running Lisa Sutton’s driver’s license and David Taylor’s Department of Corrections identification through the database, they asked the owner of the vehicle, Lisa Sutton, if they could search it. After consent from the owner, they found a pocket knife with a white substance on it that tested positive for methamphetamine. The two individuals were placed into handcuffs and taken to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. After a search of the person’s possessions and clothes, they found a 1.53-gram Ziplock baggie with more methamphetamine in it.
David Taylor was arrested on March 3rd with the charges of possession of a controlled substance and operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license.
Lisa Sutton was arrested on March 3rd with the charges of delivery or possession of a controlled substance at the County/Private Jail/Correctional Center except with a prescription and possession of a controlled substance.
Both persons have been arrested before. Taylor has multiple charges that consist of possession of drug paraphernalia, improper label of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of narcotics/controlled substance. Sutton’s previous charge was in 2020 for possession of a controlled substance.
